Representatives of East Siberian Branches of the All-Russian Peasant Union at the Elections of State Duma Deputies (1905–1907)

The article is the result of a historical study devoted to the analysis of socio-political activities of the members of the Minusinsk and Verkholensk branches of the All-Russian Peasant Union. The source base of the research is founded on previously unknown sources of the State Archive of Irkutsk Oblast, which are introduced into scientific circulation for the first time, as well as the materials from the State Archive of Krasnoyarsk Krai, normative legal acts, and publications in the periodical press. Based on a wide range of sources, the activity of the All-Russian Peasant Union in the territory of the Irkutsk Governorate General is analyzed. Special attention is paid to the participation of the Union’s members in the electoral process during the elections of deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Empire of the first and second convocations. The conclusions drawn as a result of the study point to a set of factors that influenced formation and functioning of the branches of the All-Russian Peasant Union under analysis and make an assessment of the influence of these branches on the formation of the parliamentary system during the First Russian Revolution.
