The paper deals with the analysis of informants' narratives about Telep, the neighborhood of the city of Novi Sad, which used to be inhabited predominantly by the Hungarians. The informants directly associate the urbanization with the changes in their lifestyle, as well as with weakening of the Hungarian language in everyday life. At the same time, the functioning of the Hungarian language is closely related to Telep as the ‘most Hungarian place’ on the map of Novi Sad.
