The introductory article announces the materials of the new issue of the journal Historia Provinciae – the Journal of Regional History that are devoted to the topical issues of the political history of Russia of the second half of the 19th – early 20th century. It is pointed out that the materials in this thematic issue will be interesting and useful not only for professional historians but also for a wider readership including students, and the debatable points of view expressed by the authors will become an incentive for further research into the problems under consideration.
